Sarcoidosis is a rare condition where small patches of red and swollen tissue, called granulomas, develop, normally in the skin or lungs. For many people with sarcoidosis, symptoms often improve without treatment within a few months or years. For those it doesn't the symptoms instead develop gradually and get worse over time and we currently have no cure. Sarcoidosis can affect people of any age, but usually starts in young adults aged between 20 and 40.
