IMPORTANT NEWS CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) COVER IS NOW AVAILABLE - We can confirm all of our policies now provide cover for Medical and other Expenses outside of the United Kingdom if you contract Coronavirus (COVID-19) whilst abroad. Some of our policies now also offer other additional Coronavirus (COVID-19) benefits. The policies that offer the additional cover are clearly marked where we display our prices along with the full terms and conditions. Further details of the cover can be found here. All our policies will only provide cover, if prior to your trip commencing, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has NOT advised against all (or all but essential) travel to your chosen destination. If you are travelling against advice outlined by the FCO https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice you will NOT be able to make a claim. Please ensure that your chosen destination is one that is permitted for non-essential travel. We can assist you via telephone Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm or alternatively email firstname.lastname@example.org. If your query is regarding a claim please click here for further details.
More than 3 million people in the UK are diagnosed with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Standard holiday insurance tends to exclude cover for pre-existing medical conditions, and this can include diabetes. If you have been diagnosed with this condition, you will need to disclose it when applying for travel insurance to ensure that you are protected for your trip. For travel in Europe, you should also ensure that you have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
With a travel insurance policy covering diabetes, if you were to encounter any problems relating to your condition whilst on holiday, or your medication were lost or stolen, you should be able to access a 24 hour emergency medical assistance line and make a claim for unplanned medical treatment and/or the cost of replacement metformin, insulin, or other prescribed drugs. Cancellation cover would mean that if you were deemed unfit to travel before your holiday, for reasons relating to complications of diabetes, you would be entitled to make a claim. Please be aware that different insurers offer different levels of cover, and you should check the cover limits of the policy prior to purchase.
Our online medical screening makes it easy to compare travel insurance that covers diabetes and any associated medical conditions at MedicalTravelInsurance.co.uk. When entering your details you will be asked some questions relevant to your condition, and the answers you provide will allow us to quickly assess your current health situation. It’s important that you declare any related medical conditions or complications of your diabetes (such as high blood pressure, retinopathy, or leg and foot ulcers), so that we are able to provide you with travel insurance quotes that will provide suitable cover.
